Admission to IIST

IIST – Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology is an institute established by Department of Space, Government of India.

Beautiful campus of IIST is located at Valiyamala at a distance of 20 KMs from Thiruvanantpuram, capital of Kerala – ‘God’s own country’. In this campus, 4 blocks have been erected. Class rooms, research laboratories, computer center, library, student activity center, sports facilities, hostel and staff quarters are within the campus.

Job with reasonably good salary at ISRO or any other space research organization is guaranteed for those who complete Four-Years B.Tech. successfully from IIST.

For admission to IIST, you have to pass ISAT – admission test for IIST. Advertisement for admission to IIST is published in the month of November. Application is to be made online. Visit website for filling the form.

Eligibility for admission:

Minimum 70% marks in Standard-12 science with mathematics, physics and chemistry subjects is must. This requirement shall be of 60% in case of S.C./S.T./PD category candidates.

Courses available:

  1. B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering (59 seats)
  2. B.Tech. in Avionics (58 seats)
  3. B.Tech. in Physical Sciences (39 seats)

IIST Centers:

Examinations are being conducted at 23 centers. Ahmedabad centre is allocated for Gujarat.

Schedule of exam:

Examination is ordinarily conducted in the month of April.

Examination Fee:

Rs.600/- for students of GEN and OBC category and Rs.300/- for students of S.C./S.T./PD and all other categories.

Method of Examination:

The question paper contains multiple choice questions. Questions are being asked on the subject of physics, chemistry and mathematics. Be selecting appropriate answer from the four options, bubbles are to be filled using HB pencil in the Optical Response Sheet (ORS). Every true answer carries 3 marks whereas 1 minus mark for wrong answer.
