Admission to National Defense Academy – NDA

To become an officer in all the three wings of defense forces – Army, Navy and Airforce, you have to pass examination of National Defense Academy (NDA). This examination is being conducted by UPSC twice a year. Talented youth aspiring for exciting, adventurous and dignified career must think to join NDA.

Out of Army, Navy and Air Force wings, for Navy and Air Force you should be in science stream as the Air Force and Navy have been equipped with latest technologies. NDA is functioning with an objective to prepare skilled engineers having technical knowledge of weapons, radar, computerized aircraft, ships etc. equipped with latest technologies, and thereafter, to make them officers. Therefore, talented science students are in great demand in this sector.

Students succeeding in NDA examination are fortunate to get trained at a vast and beautiful campus developed by the NDA at Khadakvasla near Pune. During the training, trainees are imparted hi-fi education and training for officer. Thus, on completion of training itself, Graduate degree in the branch where admission is secured, is awarded. Similarly, competency of a high-ranked officer is also acquired. The job is cent percent guaranteed on successful completion of training. All the expenses on lodging-boarding, books, study etc. during the training period is borne by the Government. Such an opportunity can be possible only when there is combination of luck and labor.

Eligibility for admission :

  1. For Air Force and Navy wings, standard-12 science students are only eligible.
  2. Should have passed standard-12 with mathematics and physics subjects. (For students of Gujarat – “A” or “AB” group)
  3. Students pursuing their studies in Standard-12 can also apply.
  4. Age: 19 years.

Information on Admission Form :

  1. Advertisement of NDA normally gets published through UPSC in Employment News in the month of October-November.
  2. Application forms can also be obtained from Head Post office of every city on payment of Rs.20/-. Form should be filled in after carefully going through the advertisement and information booklet attached to the application form.

Scheme of examination:

There are total two papers in National Defense Academy (NDA) Examination :

  1. Paper-1 : Mathematics – 300 marks, Duration : 2 hours 30 minutes
  2. Paper-2 : General Ability – 600 marks, Duration : 2 hours 30 minutes. Both the papers are in Hindi and English both the languages. Both the question papers are objective type. Answer is to be selected from amongst 4 options given below every question.
