Admission to Naval College of Engineering

Eligibility for Admission :

  1. Should have passed Standard-12 with maths, physics and chemistry subjects (‘A’ or ‘AB’ group)
  2. Percentage of marks obtained in the above three subjects in Standard-12 should not be less than 75%.
  3. Minimum 50 marks in English subject in Standard-10 or Standard-12.
  4. Age between 16.5 years to 19.5 years.

Method of examination :

Advertisement for admission to Naval College of Engineering is being published in the newspapers. Application form specified therein must be filled properly and forwarded so as to reach before stipulated date at the address mentioned therein.

The candidates so apply shall be called for personal interviews before the Service Selection Board either at Bhopal or Bengaluru. The candidate having successfully cleared different types of test being conducted consecutively for five days is being issued with order for training according to merit order. Thus, though admission process is comparatively tough, but, it is a fact that lifestyle of the candidate so selected is changed for ever.

After admission :

The candidate selected for training shall have to attend initially for a period of six months Naval Orientation Course at Naval Academy, Goa and thereafter, he has to pursue 4-years Degree Course at Naval College of Engineering, Lonavala. The students here are awarded with B.Tech. degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru University and thereafter, appointed as Technical Officer in Indian Navy.

Some important aspects of this course :

  1. Discipline and punctuality of education is obvious here hence the student can have leave for three weeks every six-month when only student can visit his home.
  2. After completion of three-and-a-half years of course is paid stipend of Rs.8,000/- with study.
  3. Students completing 4-years course successfully, is appointed with starting pay of Rs.11,500/- and thereafter, gradually increases as per rules.
  4. In addition to salary, other benefits and perks include Leave Travel Concession facility all over India, free medical service for self and family members, 60 days leave per year and 20 casual leaves.
