Ample opportunities in the filed of Hospitality Management and Hotel Management

Hospitality is fast growing field with the motto of ‘Guest is God’ and which has main objective to serve the people where experts will be ever in demand. India has adequate talent. People of India ever live to the motto of ‘Atithi Devo Bhav”. Hospitality sector is a fast growing sector of India. Several foreign groups are investing in hospitality business in India. More than 2 lakh professionals are required in hospitality sector in India against which, only 18,000 hospitality Graduates are being made available every year. Skilled talent has ever been in demand in hospitality sector. Hotel operation and management is important in this field. Similarly, restaurant connected to the hotel has also its own significance. One has to remain keen to serve the guest round the clock. Hospitality or Hotel Management syllabus consist four components:

  1. Food Production – where food is prepared.
  2. Food and Beverage Service – where needs of guests are catered in restaurant and cafeteria.
  3. Front office – where guests are to be provided information on amenities available in the hotel while receiving the guest.
  4. Accommodation management – where staff is responsible to see that the guess feel comfort as if they are at their home.

Hotel profession is known as ‘commercial hospitality’. The prime object of hotel is to provide basic amenities in addition to the accommodation to those who are away from home. In addition to this, various business meetings, conferences are also being organized at hotels. During previous years, there is remarkable growth in hotel industry. Positive impact of change in economy/ economic policy is reflected on this industry.

Courses :

National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) has been established by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism for professional training. A joint entrance test is being conducted by NCHMCT and admission is granted through this entrance test to the 3-year Bachelor of Science Program in Hospitality and Hotel Management course. This course is being conducted at Government sponsored hotel management institutes at 24 stations including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Mumbai, Delhi, Goa etc. Branch of this institute is also at Gandhinagar.

Educational qualification:

Standard 12 or equivalent examination passed with English subject.

Age:

Not more than 22 years as on 1st July. Maximum age limit for SC/ST candidates is 25 years.

Out of total number of seats, 15% are reserved from SC candidates and 7.5% seats are for ST category candidates.

Students those who are appearing 10+2 examination this year can also apply.
