Government of India, while increasing budget for Defense sector to the extent of 34%, has expressed its concerned for national security and practical approach and stated that to acquire competence for war and to improve the same is inevitable for the nation. Policy of India has remained defensive for ever. Even if we don’t keep malafide intention to attack other countries, a strong, large force equipped with latest arms and ammunition is unavoidable.
Large number of candidates rush to the recruitment camps being organized in Saurashtra-Gujarat. However, it is not enough that they join armed forces only in the cadre of Soldiers/Sainik. Result-oriented concentrated efforts are necessary to ensure that they also make entry and join in officer (lieutuant) cadre through direct entry scheme of NDA and CDSC and others.
As mentioned in the book published by retired colonel Mr.Prakash Vishwa titled ‘Career in the Army, Navy and Air Force’, there are 40 to 45 different options to enter and join Indian forces where you have opportunity to the posts like medical field, engineering field, from legal experts to clerk, peon, watchman etc. However, what is needed is feeling of patriotism, to meet with the prescribed physical standards and educational qualifications.

In Air Force also, recruitment is being made in officer cadre through NCA or CDSE or University Entry Scheme (special entry scheme for woman candidates). However, for recruitment to the post of Airman, there are two different systems.
