Job related competitive examinations after standard-12

Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant:

Upon vacancy arising for such posts, process of recruitment starts by releasing advertisements in newspapers. Application is to be submitted to the Superintendent of respective Division.

Standard-12 pass and aged between 18 and 25 years are eligible to apply. (Candidates belonging to S.C./S.T. can have relaxation in age for 5 years and relaxation for 3 years to OBC candidate). Candidate must have enrolled his name with Employment Exchange. The process of selection is based on marks of Standard-12, knowledge of computer, typing skill, marks obtained in competitive exam. The examination contains questions on general knowledge and intelligence.

Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA):

This examination is being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) once a year at Ahmedabad center.

Eligibility:

Standard-12 passed with First or Second Class with either physics or chemistry in addition to maths as a subject OR B.Sc. with mathematics as main subject with physics or chemistry as secondary subjects OR those who are appearing for such examination are eligible as also those who have passed First or Second Year B.Sc. with Maths with First Class or Second Class with one of the subject as physics or chemistry.

Age of the candidate should be between 17 to 21 years in the month of August of the year of examination. Relaxation for five years to S.C/S.T. candidate and three years to OBC.

Three question papers are in objective form in English language. Question Paper-1 is of General Knowledge and Psychology test, Paper-2 is for physical science and Paper-3 contain questions on chemistry subject.

Assistant in LIC and GIC:

For recruitment of Assistants in Life Insurance Corporation and General Insurance Corporation, advertisements are being released as and when vacancies arise. Knowledge of Hindi is essential. (Hindi is must as a subject in Standard-10 or 12). Recruitment of Typists is also being made similarly. Examination in Hindi/English language.

The Shipping Corporation of India, P.B. No.9429, Mumbai 400093:

Qualification :

Standard-12 pass with physics, chemistry and maths subjects with 60% or more marks (aged 20 years or les) or the candidates holding degree of B.Sc. (aged 22 years or less) are eligible to apply (Relaxation upto 5 years in case of S.C./S.T. candidates). During this training of three-months duration, expense is of Rs.40,000/-. Thereafter, they get job in Shipping Corporation as a Trainee Navigating Officer Cadet (TNOC). Can reach upto level of Master (Captain).

Apply when the advertisement releases which is ordinarily released in the month of March. Examination is conducted during month of December at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta and Chennai centres where questions asked pertain to general knowledge, aptitude test. Thereafter, oral and medical tests follow.

Coimbatore Marine College:

This college conducts 4-year B.E. Marine Engineering degree course recognized by the Director General of Shipping, Government of India. International Maritime Institute:

For the pre-sea deck cadet course, the candidates who have passed Standard-12 with 60% marks within age limit of 20 to 23 years can apply. National Fire Service College, Nagpur:

Sub-officers course for 33 weeks is being conducted at National Fire Service College, Nagpur (Maharashtra) for 24 vacancies. Training is to be obtained for 21 weeks at college and 12 weeks at big fire stations of the country. Examination is being conducted at Mumbai in the month of October where questions on the general knowledge, English, general science and mathematics will be there. Question papers are in objective format and of the standard of syllable of Standard-12 in Hindi and English language. Those who pass at the end of course, shall have to u undergo Medical test.

Eligibility:

Standard-12 pass and competent to read, write and speak in Hindi and English both. 165 cm height, 50 KG weight and 81 cm chest with expansion of 5 cm is necessary. Age should be 18 to 23 years as on January (relaxation upto five years for S.C./S.T. candidates). Advertisement in this regard is released in the month of June-July when application form should be filled. Advertisement is being released in newspapers.

Boarder Security Force (BSF):

Standard-12 pass candidates are being recruited to the post of Assistant Sub Inspector (Clerk). Male and female both are eligible to apply. In addition to pay scale, other allowance is admissible. More and above educational qualification, physical standards should be – 167 cm height and 81 cm chest with expansion of 5 cm, weight 43 kg is essential. Age should be 18 to 25 years. You have to face written exam, typing speed test and personal interview, medical tests. In the written examination, objective type questions on Hindi-english language, general IQ, numerical aptitude, clerical aptitude are there. The advertisement is being released in the month of December.

Actuary:

The function of the Actuary is to collect various types of statistics, analyse them and to present it in simple and easy language. Ordinarily, the function of Actuaries is to determine in insurance corporation rates of premium of life insurance by analyzing statistics of population, sickness, accidents etc. They also determine rates of premium for property insurance by taking into consideration and analyzing instances of fire, damages, looting of properties and amount of damages caused due to such instances. Their knowledge is also useful in Government departments, Stock Exchanges etc. Generally, the actuarist can apply his knowledge for determination of rates of interest on pension, provident fund, gratuity, share value, dividend etc. following the principles of probabilities. Those who wish to select this profession of Actuarist much possess high level of knowledge in mathematics and statistics. Further, his memory should be also very sharp and IQ should also be very high for analysis of higher values. For this purpose, one can attempt examination by sitting at home which is being conducted in the month of April/May and September/October which contain two papers of mathematics and one paper of English. Indian Banks Association (IBA):

Indian Banks Association is a central voluntary body of all the nationalized banks of India. IBA, in association with Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has taken very important decision in the interest of candidates in respect of the recruitment procedure for banks. Accordingly, the candidates need not to have now apply separately to all the banks, pay fees and go for written tests every Sunday. Visit www.iba.org.in

Under this proposed system, now the IBPS will conduct written test twice a year and shall issue score cards to the candidates according to their performance. For these tests, the candidates shall have to wait for advertisement as and when get released by IBPS. The bank which will be in need of recruitment, shall issue its own advertisement notifying requirements of age, educational qualification, number of posts etc. The candidate shall have to apply to the respective bank in pursuance thereof by attaching copy of the score card as has been issued by the IBPS to him/her. In short, no bank will henceforth go for their own written test separately. The bank will decide on its own about the cut-off score for calling candidates for interview, group discussions etc. This new system has been implemented w.e.f 1st June, 2011.

State Bank of India has not participated in this proposed system therefore, Score Card issued by IBPS shall not be valid so far as State Bank is concerned. Validity of the score card being issued by the IBPS shall be for one year.

Staff Selection Commission (SSC):

Staff Selection Commission is functioning for selection of candidates to the various posts like Clerk, Assistant or Officer after conducting interviews of the candidates succeed in written examinations.
