There is entrance exam for top national level medical college. Forms for All India Premedical Test (PMT) are being filled in the month of February and examination is being conducted in the month of May. All India Institute of Medical Science of New Delhi which is famous as AIIMS, is the number one medical college of India. You can get admission to the AIIMS if you have passed Standard-12 Science with physics, chemistry and biology (PCB) subjects. For admission to the first year MBBS, you have to face entrance examination of AIIMS. 200 MCQs are there in the question paper. 60 questions each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects (60x3=180) and 20 questions are of general knowledge. Three-and-a-half hour time is given to attempt the answers. Examination is being conducted in the month of June. Entrance test for admission to MBBS Course at All India Institute of Medical Science is to be conducted in the month of June and result thereof will be declared in July, 2015. Admissions to the AIIMS at Bhopal, Jodhpur, Raipur, Rushikesh, Bhubaneshwar and Patna in addition to New Delhi will be through this entrance test.
It is expected that about 1.50 lakh students may appear for this entrance test for 372 seats. The candidate should have passed Standard-12 examination with 60% aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for General and OBC category candidates whereas 50% marks required for S.C/S.T. category students.
Course fee of Rs. 4,428/- (for one year) is to be deposited while securing admission.On the other hand, total course fee of MBBS at BHU is about Rs.7 lakhs. Tuition fee of AIIMS is very marginal since Government of India bears almost all expenses. Cut-off marks in entrance examination for admission to this course is prescribed at 50% for General Category and 40% for S.C./S.T. students.
60 questions each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and 20 questions of General Awareness of 1 mark each are asked in this examination. 0.33 marks deducted for each wrong answer. Number of seats are likely to be increased this year. 100 students each are accommodated in all 6 AIIMS institutes.
There are 72 seats in AIIMS, New Delhi. There were only 50 seats prior to 2008. 292 students are studying there where number of senior doctors imparting education is 500. Apart from this, the number of Resident Doctors and supporting staff is there. Here, strength of teaching staff is more than number of students. AIIMS, New Delhi has been accorded status of Residentail University. This is the only institute which offers 55 different branches for specialization and super specialization for Post Graduation.
The Armed Forces Medical College established in 1948 at Pune is medical college of Indian military forces. After pursuing MBBS at AMC, it is mandatory to serve for seven years to the post of Medical Officer (Commissioned Officer) with Indian Army, Navy or Airforce. Forms for admission are being filled in the month of February-March and examination is usually organized in the month of May. Entrance examination for admission to this medical college can be attempted if you have opted PCB subjects.
For admission to the CMC Medical College affiliated with the Dr.MGR Medical University of Tamilnadu, there is separate entrance test to be attempted. CMC is considered as one of the best medical colleges of India. Admission form for this college to the MBBS course can be submitted if you have PCB subjects in Standard-12.
Manipal University situated at Manipal town near Manglore in Karnataka also conduct separate entrance test for admission to the medical and dental branch. Exam is online for which application forms are being invited in the month of February and examination is conducted in the month of April and May.
